Job Description

As an MBA Corporate Development Fellow at Hook, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial and investor strategy. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for an MBA student to gain hands-on experience in corporate development, financial modeling, and strategic planning. You will collaborate closely with our executive team to ensure comprehensive reporting and support our fundraising and growth strategy as we move toward a Series A round. This role has the potential to evolve into a full-time operational position based on performance and company needs.

Key Responsibilities

Investor & Board Reporting

  • Develop and maintain monthly investor, board, and prospective investor reports, ensuring that all reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with company goals.

  • Organize and prepare materials for monthly and quarterly board meetings, including creating comprehensive board decks and compiling agenda items.

  • Participate in all-hands meetings and prepare investor-focused presentations, providing data and insights on key business metrics.

Financial Modeling & Analysis

  • Build and refine financial models to provide insights into operational growth based on existing revenue and forecasting data.

  • Assist in developing a scalable growth model to guide financial decision-making and support departmental budgeting.

  • Conduct financial analyses that translate complex data into actionable insights for the team, helping them understand how to align budgets and resources with company objectives.

Series A Strategy Support

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of fundraising activities as we approach our Series A.

  • Provide analytical support and strategic insights to facilitate discussions with potential investors.

Ad Hoc Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with various departments to understand team needs, translating them into financial terms and integrating them into financial models.

  • Offer support to executive leadership by responding to ad hoc requests and assisting with corporate strategy initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MBA Student: Currently pursuing an MBA with a focus on finance, corporate strategy, or a related field.

  • Financial Acumen: Proven at least 3 years of experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis. Proficiency with tools like Excel and financial modeling software.

  • Reporting Expertise: Prior experience preparing investor or board reports; ability to communicate financial insights clearly to various stakeholders.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to inform business decisions.

  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in reporting and data analysis.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts for non-financial team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Start-Up Experience: Exposure to the consumer tech or music tech industry is a bonus.
